 I saw this specimen in the French Alps in July.
Its size was about 12 mm.

What can you tell me about it ?

 I don't know the French fauna so I can't tell you the species name. It is a robberfly, family Asilidae. They are predators on other insects.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
