Hi there, These 2 spiders (Philodromus) are, in my view, two different species. But which species? Can they be identified to the full? Both were found recnetly in my garden in the Netherlands (West). Cheers! Best regards, Iolaire |

I don't think you can get an absolute id, as many Philodromus are variable and similar to related species. The first one is most likely either P. cespitum or P. aureolus (though there are other species which are also similar). I agree the second one looks different, but it's not anything I have seen before. A wild guess would be a pale P. dispar or perhaps P. rufus/albidus. Sorry I can't be more helpful. |

Philodromus are not easy. Here we have almost 20 species of Philodromus. We must check the genitalia just to be sure about the species. There are some exceptions. I second Smoggycb in this case. |

Thank you both! I'll leave them at "Philodromus sp".

Hello! The second is Philodromus dispar (female), one of the few unmistakeable species. Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |
