Hi, I got this very funny looking fly today. After I saw that previous thread of Chloropidae, I was thinking if this could be a Chloripidae as well. The problem is the size. I have feeling that all my pinned specimens are very small and this one is 8mm long ?! Sorry abouth the black background in picture but maybe this is familiar to someone.

Not Meromyza - which has greatly enlarged hind femora, but another chloropine - I suspect this is one of the large Chlorops, but have no keys or specimens to hand. Kahis?

Yes, some of the Meromyza (females) can get very big.

It's definitely a Chlorops, but taking it to species level would need better references than I have at hand.

Thank You all! Chlorops sp. is fine. I have the specimen so I can try to find the name when I go home again. After pinning so many tiny little black and yellow Chloropidae the size of this one was very confusing. Well, every day You learn something new Smile

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
