Apologies for the poor quality of the image - not quite up to Tony T's standard. Swept on 16th June from damp grassland near Rye in south-eastern England. Vegetation largely Phragmites and Juncus

Thanks Paul. And thanks for the photoshopping Chris, much better than my attempts. Can you suggest any literature for this family? It would be good to put a name to it as there are no ephydrids on our reserve list at the moment! |

It's a species of Notiphila, but even with a restricted fauna like the British one, it's difficult to put a species name to a photo with certainty. Thanks Tony. I have two or three specimens which I assume are the same species, so I will send you one when they have dried. I will send you a pm when I get them out of my setting box. |
