I reared this tachinid from a pupa of the zygaenid Zygaena trifolii. Is it Actia sp.?

What size is it? I doubt it is Actia - I don't know any with an orange scutellum.

I suppose it's too big for Actia sp. The fly measures about 8-9 mm.

I'd say too big - and doesn't look right for Actia but I'm not sure what it can be ... too anonymous for me Sad ... maybe Theo? Smile The best bet would be to key it ... but it might be too southern for the central european key.

The host should be an obvious clue. Moreover, it is a male with a very broad vertex, and it is not Phryxe (see apical scutellars).

Combining all this, it must be Ceromasia rubrifrons (educated guess).
