I believe this is Gymnosoma, but is it possible to name the species ?

Looks too small for Gymnosoma and the antennae look small too - perhaps Cistogaster globosa (male)? Smile

The antennae looks enough long to me for Gymnosoma. I'd say Gymnosoma nudifrons.

It's certainly possible - might just have been the funny angle - perhaps the umbellifer flowers also made it look a lot smaller than it is? Or maybe I am just trying to be too clever? Grin

Jari - can you estimate how big this fly is?

Well, I have my malaise trap near these flowers and I got today three flies, that I believe are same species and they are 7-8mm long.

Sounds good for Gymnosoma then - if you want me to have a look at them I'd be happy to take any spare tachinids you might have Smile With a specimen and keys Gymnosoma spp. become easier - but never "easy" Wink
