My best guess is Phasia pusilla, because it has a very silver face with no visible hair between the eyes and frontal bristles AND it doesn't appear to have the yellow haltares of barbifrons. |

Chris, I don't want to spoil your dish, but this guy is from Israel. They have many species of subg. Hyalomyia over there. So an ID is really not possible, we need to see female genitalia in this group for a good ID. Theo |

Yes, it's a nice set of photos and I think we can say "it isn't Phasia barbifrons" But for a proper identification better catch a few females and maybe Theo can go further (if you ask nicely ). |
