Taken sitting on a fence post in the sun in south east england beginning of may. a cluster of them were in the same place and were just sitting. is it a Polietes lardarius? the picture in my woefully lame beginners book isnt very big or clear cheers guys, sorry to keep asking im still learning my flies |

I think M autumnalis is called Face Fly in English.
