I want to find out how to post pdf drawings to the forum, which can be opened in Acrobat by clicking on the link.

So I attach some drawings of Lasiomma anthomyinum Rond to find out what happens

Success! I made a copy of the file, and cut out the spaces. Ant comments?

Dear Mike,
I was able to access the file simply by double clicking on it so I guess everybody can as well. Would you have a drawing of an Anthomyiid wing, I am trying to learn to separate scathophagids on the basis of wing venation. Jan Maca tried to help when he was here, but I didn't write anything down and now I forget which was which, on anal vein reaching the wing margin or not reaching it. On the flies I am comparing there are 3 veins not touched by the costa, numbering 1, 2, and 3 from the wing tip to the anal lobe. 1 and 2 are straight 3 is usually curved to some extent). No. 1 always reaches or gets very close to the wing margin and sometimes seems to project deyond it as a small spine. In some 2 fades out in the second half, but can be seen to reach the margin, in others it is much fainter, or apparently absent. As far as I can see 3 never reaches the margin, but it does get closer in some than others.

Any other tips on separating the two groups, linked in my mind by the absence of serious bends in the major veins, and bare or basically bare antennae will be greatfully received.

Hoping you, or somebody else, can help me make sense of this.Smile

Thanks,

Gordon

I will come back to you on this, Gordon. I shall be seeing Adrian Pont this week in Oxford, taking your Kirkini material. So it may be the end of the week.

Drawings are very clear. Could get rid of a lot of white space around top and sides. Also, indication of orientation and labelling the various parts would be useful.

Labelling can be easily done in future. I was just concerned with getting the file name to appear. As the drawings do not appear in the thread, and the PDF files are very small, it seems unnecessary to spend extra time in trimming them.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
