When I get image of male Anthomyiidae and afterwards I'm lucky to collect the same specimen, I try to name it. I've got Lasiomma seminitidum Zett., with Michael's key. Correct? Nikita Vikhrev attached the following image: [137.15Kb] Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

You guys don''t need me anymore! Really good photo Nikita. The hairs on the eyes look quite long, Lasiomma anthomyinum has very hairy eyes, but if you have checked the genitalia, seminitidum is distinctive, especially the distiphallus. By the way some non-hairy eyed species are also now placed in Lasiomma (it's all done to confuse you!) |

Thank you Michael. Reading your key I choised at first couplet "Eyes with longer pubescence, hairs mainly more than half as long as first flagellomere is wide". But t3 with only 2 av. So, I had to go to Lasiomma seminitidum. My fly really has "F3 with long pv setae, the longest median setae more than twice depth of femur" and genitalia of Lasiomma anthomyinum of absolutelly different shape. So, one more species level ID Anthomyydae to our Gallery

Nikita, I have posted on the lounge drawings of the genitalia of L. anthomyinum. It was an experiment for me to find out how to include the file name so that one could open it in Adobe Acrobat ( in my case PDF XChange viewer which is better). I made a copy of the file and changed the name to just the specific name. I am changing all my drawings (3000+) to A4 plates, all drawings on one sheet. Have I understood you correctly- the genitalia of the fly are anthomyinum? |

Sorry for my English, Michael. No! Genitalia is of Lasiomma seminitidum - narrow and stright in ventral view, not bifurcate, fit completely with your drawing. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
