I saw this Tachinid this morning (1 May) just behind my garden. It looks like Phryxe from just over a week ago. Is species ID possible? ca 8 mm. Sitting on Hawthorn is small group of trees+bushes in playground grass land.

It's possible but I'd like to be able to see the apical scutellar bristles a bit better before I could say for sure |

Yak, this is more or less all I have! OK, next time I know what to look for! I attach another photo with a slightly better vision of the scutellum, but I'm not too hopeful anymore... The apicals are erect. This seems to Phryxe indeed. Impossible to say more without a lateral shot. Theo |
