There has been several of these Hoverflies on my Forget-Me-Nots just recently. It is difficult to see the orientation of the triangular spots of this species. Could the identification be confirmed please? Regards Tony. UK, Reading. Tony Towner attached the following image: [34.22Kb] Edited by Tony Towner on 24-04-2008 21:59 |

Hi Tony, Can't quite see enough of the markings and legs to be sure, but from what I can see I wonder if this is a Platycheirus rather than Melanostoma? Martin Martin Harvey |

Hi, this fly has for my eyes some bluish look. The fore tibia is vague but definitely broadened. I would not be surprised bij Platycheirus albimanus, but I am not feeling sure. Jan H.C.Velterop. |

I have found a dead specimen indoors. Does this confirm Platycheirus albimanus? Tony. Tony Towner attached the following image: [81.53Kb] |

Last two pictures are for sure Platycheirus albimanus females, and your first picture seems indeed to be the male of that species! greetings Greetings, Gerard Pennards |
