hi flyforum,

Last week I found this Muscidae sp., a Phaonia sp. I think.

Is Phaonia subventa a good option?

With 3 posterior setae on mid tibiae, it can't be Phaonia subventa. It is either P. bitincta or P. rufiventris. With only one presutural pair of ac, t1 without posterior setae and frons without interfrontals, it has to be P. rufiventris.

Hi Stephane,

Your reaction is mostly on the last picture i think?

Female (first picutres) got also 3 posterior setae, I cannot see interfrontals. She got also one presutural pair of ac (what I can see..)

Male (last picture) got 3 posterior setae, no interfrontals in forehead.

I don't know what you meant with t1 without posterior setea?

So, the male must be P. rufiventris? in your opinion?

Nice reaction, fine to know some details about these flies.

I was talking only about your last fly (the female, just above my first reply).
t1 = tibia 1 (fore tibia).
Stephane.
