Hi flyforum.

I am quite sure this must be a Phorocera sp. , but I am not sure which one.

The end of the scutellum is red/braun, and the fly was rather large (>10mm)
The side of the abdomen looks also red/braun, partly.

Is Phorocera assimilis correct?

Or is this P. grande?

I'm quite sure you are quite right

Assimilis is as large as grandis, don't get fooled by the name.
Grandis is restricted to the coastal dune area in The Netherlands, and even there it is rare.
