Hi guys I know its too much to ask but I could not resist the temptation. I have in my collections from rice fields a fly that looks more like a black beetle. Its thorax is extended beyond its abdomen and it forms a roof like cavity under which the true wings are found. I could not download the images from the camera. I will post the image tomorrow. But any suggestions as to what family this fly could belong |

Sounds like Celyphidae.

Thank you kahis. It looks like one and I have tagged it as beetle fly in my records. How apt. Is it a detrivore? |
