HI, photographed his wasp in 8.april.2008. founded soaring on a Euphorbia plant in a Fagus fores near a stream. ~700m. size of he wasp ~12 mm can be IDed further? thanks far all the help, cosmln cosmln attached the following image: [98.49Kb] |

From what I can see, it is a female of Polistes biglumis. In Polistes, head in frontal view is very helpful. Regards, Christian |

Regards, Christian hi Christian, thanks for your help. the exemplary was very tame, but i forget to make a frontal view. just tried and tried to make some more artistic photos. without success, to dark, he flask was two powerful on that Euphorbia. the background become too dark and so on.. cosmln |

Yes, of course, these wasps are not professional models. But here, a yellow mandible is visible, so identification is quite sure. Regards, Christian |
