Hello! These small (4-5 mm) were numerous today on sunny treetrunks at the forest (northwest Germany). Please don't tell me, they are Anthomyiids...  . Could they be Hydrotaea sp.?

If it is Lonchaeidae, it should not be too difficult to get some more precise identification in the light of these darkened veins...

very interesting ! I dont know how much of the darkened wing veins and darker eyes are due to the light conditions rather than anything else. the head and antennal flagellomere look a bit like a Dasiops spp. but the rest does not seem to fit too well. Today I was on the way on another location (about 3 km from the first). It was only 3 ?C and there were not many flies. But this Lonchaeid again sunbathed at trees. Unfortunately the weather forecast speaks of rain or snow tomorrow and possibly the next days.
