A small bee after a rain shower, still unable to fly. I found plenty of them on flowers, some looking dead. Looks like Halictus genus but I have no idea of the species. About 6mm long. I am back from Lanzarote now. Nice trips, with many beautifull insects. The present bee is an Andrena male, more ID is not possible. regards, Christian |

Thank you, Christian. Then I suppose that the following one, with a full load of pollen, is a female of the same species?...

Yes, it is a female, and perhaps of the same species. It may be of the humilis-group, but this is only an idea. Andrena is a very difficult genus, ritch in species, and I know only the Central European species (about 120 sp.), which mostly are also impossible to ID by photo. In Spain/Portugal, you have probably more than 200 sp... Regards, Christian P.s. Yesterday in the late evening, I was in Faro/Portugal, but for some minutes only, because our airplane took new fuel :-) |
