Hello,

among many Lucilias at my fruit baits in the courtyard (northwest Germany) there was this 8-9 mm male, which looked different. Maybe Phormia regina?

Hello Jürgen, the presutural acr seem to be too long (more like in Protocalliphora). Do you have a lateral view of this fly?

Hello once more,

I only know Protocalliphora azurea from here, and the male looks quite different (pic #1 below), whereas the male Phormia regina resembles the actual find (pic #2).

Protocalliphora azurea:

Phormia regina:

Best regards,

Hello Jürgen, it's not a Protocalliphora, but the achrosticals are more than "twice as long as hairs on thorax". I'm not an expert so I would need more characters to be sure: "pale hairs on upper calypter and anterior thoracic spiracle orange" (from Olga Sivell (2021): Blow flies)
Greetings, Eric K

Hello Eric,

thanks a lot for your judgement of this fly. It's pity that I only have this photo. So it will remain Calliphoridae indet.
Best regards,
Jürgen
