Hello,

I photographed this fly on Monte Bazzano (AQ), Italy, 700m a.s.l. on May 31st 2024. Is it a Dexia? And is it possible to identify its species from these photos?

Could be, but the parafacial looks hairy in first pic (?)

Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have better pictures. I uploaded a cropped version of the first photo, but I can't say whether the parafacial is actually hairy or if it's just an artifact of light reflection.

Yes, I think it is a trick of the light and male Dexia rustica is good to go
