Slovakia, Banská Bystrica, 21 April 2024, black alder stand near stream, 400 m.a.s.l., a species smaller than E. tesselata

I Think it should be some Leptempis, maybe E. dimidiata or nigricans. I checked pictures on the web, both species look similar and I don't know if the yellowish tint in the wings has some relevance (of the pictures from Slovakia, nigricans seems to have clear wings and dimidiata yellowish).

Thank you in advance

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
