Hi, can anyone tell me what this nice fly might be ? It's from Sumatra and may be impossible to identify. Even the genus would be ok.

You should contatc Mr Rozkosny from the Checz Republic. He probably could name this to species if he is willing to do so. He has revised oriental material recently.

That is a relative easy one, because it is a very well known fly. This is a male of Eudmeta marginata (Fabricius, 1805). I hope Rudolf would back me up on this, but I am quite sure about the ID.
