Ansbach, garden near Frankenhoehe Nature Park, old deciduous forest, 2023-09-27
Hedera helix

My first attempt was female T. fera, then male T. magnicornis - but both don't match.
Is this the mysterious male Tachina nupta?

Looking very forward to your advanced ideas!
Tachina fera female!

It is a female. I would call nupta only in males.
Moreover, it lokks like a typical fera to me.

Yes, indeed, I thought it was a male - base on this blurry image...
And the yellow antennae that I recognised for the first time.

Thank you once again, Theo, for bringing me back to earth! Frown

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
