Hello,

I photographed this fly in Bazzano (AQ), Italy, on April 7th 2023. I think it is a Tachinidae, but is it possible to identify its genus or species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Carcelia are very difficult. Iā€™d say C. lucorum, much more common, or possibly dubia (male genitalia only reliable feature)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
