Hello everyone,

I found this approximately 8 mm large fly on 07/29/23 in south-west Germany on a light forest path. I think it belongs to the genus Linnaemya. Is that correct and is there perhaps more to say?

Thanks and regards,
Siggi

Hello Siggi, I think it's a Winthemia and from what I see, it could be male Winthemia quadripustulata.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Hi Eric

Thank you for your determination. That is very interesting. I didn't know this genus until now. Based on your answer, I add a "cf."

Greetings Siggi

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
