Hi,

This fly took a rest on a leaf of our garden hedge in the late afternoon.

I would guess that it could be a male(?) of Dexiosoma caninum. Its only a wild guess, but can that be confirmed or excluded from the attached image and/or is a narrower determination possible ?

Germany, Southern Bavaria, Munich (-West), 03.07.2023, app. 10-12 mm

Greetings, Uli

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
