On Icelandic list, we only have tarsatus from this genus...
Presuming this must therefore be P.tarsatus, but would like to know what´s diagnostic if anyone can share.

It seems at least to conform to Bill Dean's comments on iNaturalist on other observations :

"Separated golf club yellow markings. The narrow angle at the meeting of the eyes on the frons is a feature for tarsatus."
https://www.inatu...s/90105281

"Eyes hairy; hind legs mostly very dark; markings on tergite 2 very widely spaced; thorax very dark with two longitudinal grey stripes;"

Comment directly from Bill Dean on iNaturalist :

" this has a black facial stripe which is lacking in tarsatus. It looks very much like Parasyrphus punctulatus.
The markings on tergite 2 are very pointed compared to tarsatus and the anterior margin more oblique than tarsatus and tarsatus has the hind legs more extensively yellow."

Confusingly, this is another not on the Icelandic list though, so would be a new species for country.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
