Hello Here is a hoverfly caught today in my garden. I think it's a male Platycheirus but fore tarsi are not inflated contrary to P. albimanus which seemed close at first sight. There are 3 pairs of grey spots on the abdomen, antenna are entirely black. With this description, it seems to be closer to ambiguus group. And there is a curled bristle near the end of fore femora which seems to be typical of P. ambiguus (at least in Great Britain and in Belgium/Netherlands). What do you think about this hoverfly ? Found in Rosny-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France, France On the 4th of April 2023 Body length : around 8 mm Picture #1 : dorsal view Axel D attached the following image: [294.98Kb] Edited by Axel D on 04-04-2023 20:41 |

Hi Axel, I totally agree with P ambiguus. Note also the inflated dusted frons and of course the bristle you indicated. Here https://www.googl...mF-XSQJCIP you can find a link to the revision of the ambiguus-group. Best, Jonne |
