Hi,
this fly hatched in the end of last week from a piece of bark of a dead aspen (Germany, Saxony). Is ID possible? Is it a female or male?

Thanks,
Marion

A male of Lonchaea. Some important characters can be seen (e.g. setose disc of scutellum), some cannot. L. patens? Iain MacGowan could perhaps confirm, or refuse, it.
