This fly was taken from a malaise trap residu from near Renkum, prov. Of Gelderland, the Netherlands, collected in September 2019 by Th. Heijerman.

To me it looks like a tachinid. I tried to find the genus by using the multi-entry key by Cerretti et al., 2012. (http://www.tachinidae.eu/free/default_moschweb.aspx#).

I ended up with 3 potential genera, of which one, Estheria, seems geographically feasible. I’m curious to learn if this is correct (and of course to learn the species name).

Thanks, Ton

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
