Are you asking the meaning of the sentence with the question mark? Propleuron more or less setulose.

Well, I'm not sure if there are small bristles or not on the propleuron.

The other big question is if Seguy 1934 keys are still useful for european Tetanocera. The other keys I found are not free download.

And the last question is if genitalia is needed to get a species name.

Or perhaps Tetanocera silvatica as suggested here? https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/137553346

If you read french, I suggest you use Vala 1989, really good book Wink And it cover your area.

For frons, better angle would be from front and a bit upward.
Frons doesn't look shiny to Me, I'd bet on T ferruginea.
You can exclude T hyallipennis anyway, costa is a bit darkned in this species.

Thanks, clovis! I bought Vala 1989, but difficult to use with not other references or pinned specimens. I take note on your suggestion.

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
