Hello, everyone,

I found this fly on August 17th, 2022 on a fallow meadow in south-west Germany. I estimate the size at 6 mm. Can it be Solieria fenestrata or just Solieria sp.?

Thank you Sigi

It is a male (check abdominal tip) with broad vertex, hence S. pacifica.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
