I found this probable mycetophila spec. on 12th april 2022 in Den Helder, Netherlands. It was attracted to light.

Does someone know the name of this species. Thanks a lot.

Greetings, Mario Renden

Mycetophila fungorum or perpallida. The former is the more common one. Other part of the genitalia tells the difference.

Thanks Paul. I added one more picture of the genitalia but unfortunately it is rather a mess. Hopefully with some luck, the necessary details are visible.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
