south Norway mountain area 12th Aug 2021

So it has pale hairs under scutellum which points towards Anthomyidae, but anal vein seems kinda short, which points to Muscidae.

Which one is it?

Some Anthomyiidae may have a shorter anal vein, and a few Muscidae have pale hairs under the scutellum - such as Helina cilipes. I suspect it is the latter.

According to Fauna Europaea, H. cilipes is recorded from Norway.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
