Hi there,

I try to identify this Culicidae from around Paris (France).
Based on the resting position, I would go with the genus Anopheles but I am not sure the photo allows us to go to the species level.
Anyone ?
Thanks !

Hi, yes I added the photo. I had to downsize it a lot.

Hi, it's not an Anopheles - the palps are too short.
From what I see on your photo, it could be Culiseta longiareolata.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
