Several of these tiny, 3-5mm, brown flies were sitting on Linaria-vulgaris flowers. There were a few of these plants on the side of a Crataegus-lined path through fields full of Jacobaea vulgaris. They were also seen elsewhere on this day nectaring on Heracleum sphondylium and Tanacetum vulgare.
