I pictured this Diptera in Belgium, on 2021-08-12. I searched to ID it using wing venation but could not ... Can you help me ID it ??? Thank you very much ! Edited by Tetrao on 13-03-2022 16:23 |

The wing venation points to Rhinophoridae, as cell r4+5 is distinctly petiolate (this character is found also in Tachinidae, but they look different). The long petiole is typical for genus Stevenia, but that's it I'm afraid... The key in https://www.mapre...24p041.pdf asks for characters that are not clearly visible in your pictures. S. deceptoria bears a certain resemblance as to conspicuous dusting but should have reddish palpi and a reddish tip of the second antennal segment. So let's stay with Stevenia spec. Regards, Sundew |
