Hello,

I photographed this fly in Bazzano (AQ), Italy, on June 21st 2021. I think it is a Scenopinus, but is it possible to identify its species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Shining frons, white halter knob, hyaline wings, wing vein R4 branching well before middle of cell r5 and orange legs make it Scenopinus glabrifrons.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
