Germany, Baden-Württemberg, district Karlsruhe, Karlsbad-Spielberg, in a garden on the leaf of a fruit tree, ca. 6 - 8 mm, found date 01.07.2021, Gerold Franke, can the hoverfly species be determined? thanks

Hi Gerold, yes it can: Epistrophe eligans (one of the very few I'm able to determine). Green, white stripe in the middle, dorsally flattened, the posterior spiracle distinctly longer than wide, on trees and shrubs. Edited by eklans on 01-07-2021 17:32 Greetings, Eric Kloeckner |
