It is not Bibio femoratus, which is a North American species. The similarly-named European Bibio femoralis flies earlier in the year. |

Hi Eugen, to be sure we would need a lateral view, but if it's really 10-12 mm: no idea. If it's smaller we have some characters for johannis: short head, eyes round... But it's more a guess without seeing the lateral view of thorax and abdomen.
