Location: Hungary Date: 19 April 2026. Habitat: Mixed forest, mainly beech, hornbeam and maple. Beaten from Acer campestre I need some confirmation regarding these copulating flies. After I had checked the gallery I just concluded that they might be Pseudoseps signata. Am I right? Seems a perfect match indeed. For this species it's known that there is difference in the coloration of the legs between males and females. The males have completely yellow legs, whereas the females have dark markings on the fore and hind femora. In the females also the for tarsi, with exception of the last segment, are dark. Also the markings at the end of the veins match.
