Hello!

Sorry for the "snow" in the picture, this macro perspective reaches the technical possibilities of my camera. Is this a male Culex pipiens? Yesterday night at house wall (Ostwestfalen/Germany), length about 5-6 mm. Thanks!

I'm not sure it's possible to ID from this limited view. I heard from thope007 that it's good to have a side view of Culicidae body.

Nevertheless an interesting photo. What lens do you use? A new one? Smile

I had hoped, the form of the antennae and/or proboscis and palps were characteristic.

I heard from thope007 that it's good to have a side view of Culicidae body.

I was experimenting with such close-up views yesterday, so I'm afraid I have only one halfway lateral pic (below).

Nevertheless an interesting photo. What lens do you use? A new one? Smile

No, I have still my Panasonic DMC-FMZ30 camera with Raynox M-250 macro lens. Just tried to use the biggest magnification. But when trying I have to take 50 photos or so to get one, which is not totally out of focus (I am photographing freehanded). Didn't know that I'm always trembling that way... Wink
