Can anyone suggest genera (and maybe even species..) for these 2 large, ground running beetles, Tenebrionidae I'm pretty sure. This first one was c 3cm found at 450m near a mountain stream on 4.6.10 The second one was on the coast in the southwest of Corsica, also c 3cms on 4.6.10 nick upton attached the following image: [169.8Kb] Nick Upton - naturalist and photographer |

Many thanks Libor. You are correct for sure, and with your lead, I now I think i know the species. It seems perfect for Akis bacarozzo which is recorded in Corsica. Lots of good images and descriptions on the web eg. http://www.insecte.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=715 I think the other one may be a Blaps sp. Possibly Blaps gibba for which i have now found Corsican records and similar looking images. Nick Upton - naturalist and photographer |
