Hi everyone, I found and raised this larva that eklans found similar to a red form of Syrphus ribesii. Here I will present you the adult that I obtained. The thing is that there seems to be hairs on the top of the eyes visible in the lateral view (unfortunately the rest of the eye is not clear enough due to imperfections in the transparent plastic sheet preventing the fly to go away), so we were thinking it may be Syrphus torvus. So, who do you think this hoverfly is? Thank you for your help! ![]() Cédric Mondy : France : Saint-Maur-des-Fossés : 94100 : 01/05/2022 Altitude : 42 m - Taille : 10.8 mm Réf. : 302662 ![]() Cédric Mondy : France : Saint-Maur-des-Fossés : 94100 : 01/05/2022 Altitude : 42 m - Taille : 10.8 mm Réf. : 302663 ![]() Cédric Mondy : France : Saint-Maur-des-Fossés : 94100 : 01/05/2022 Altitude : 42 m - Taille : 10.8 mm Réf. : 302669 Edited by CedricMondy on 12-06-2022 23:19 Cédric |

Hello Cédric, I've compared your fly to my S. torvus which I found 2017-04-11 and the eyes look the same! So I'm quite sure it is S. torvus. Which means, that the larvae are very similar, too - which could be expected, I think.
