This larva was living in muds and wet ares. Elevation 1650 m. 2009 July,26 Turkey-Karaman (Middle Anatolia) And at the link below you can see a different photo about a smillar spices (also it is unidentified) http://www.trakus.org/kods_bird/uye/?fsx=2fsdl47@d&idx=23394 Thanks for your comments. My guess is Stratiomyidae.

good guess. indeed Stratiomyid and looking at the shape and color it must be Stratiomys. As i'm not familiar with the Turkish fauna I will not say anything about the species name, but to me it looks a bit like S. longicornis, but it may be some other, except S.singularior. The ones in the birds beak are also Stratiomyidae larva, but the genus is unknown, but resembles Stratiomys. |
