This one might a little "Christmas gift" for AndrzejSmile.

It's a Scoliocentra with several prosternal bristles and going somewhere near S. brachypterna/dupliciseta
in my keys.

BUT, see the remarkable strong mesopleural seta (I guess the above-mentioned species should have only little bristles/hairs there).

Best wishes and thanks, KWQ

With all probability it is Sc. brachypterna . Cerci are typical, but dististylus (or edit) not seen. It should be verified !
By Sc. brachypterna palpi are bicoloured. Could you check the first tarsomere of hind leg ? It should be shorter than the second segment. Wink. If both sides of the mesopleura have a bristle then the genitalia should be examined ;-). Andrzej

In some specimens of H. serrata species-group such aberrations are present Grin

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
