this copula i photograph 2 1/2 years ago in late autumn, again near d?sseldorf/germany. in my website these flys are specified as 'Scatophaga stercoraria'. I don't think it's lutaria either, but I don't have time to check my references just now to see if I can work out what it is.

Then probably the note I made in my key that characters were reversed (made it ages ago, so cannot exactly recall why) is correct.

As far as I understand S.lutaria and S.inquinata distinguish from photo mostly by jizz and comparing with collected material...

It was the lack of the dark strip on the top of the front femur that made me think not lutaria. Inquinata was my next thought, but I know they are really similar and require head stratching.
