Fairly sure this is Scatella paludum (Ephydridae). The wing markings are often very faint in this species. If you have a look at this thread http://www.dipter...d_id=64112, you'll see that in Canace the facial bristles go in the opposite direction.

Thanks! The wings markings are indeed very faint, compared with other Scatella species.
