This little fly 2.5-3mm was wandering around on a window in the AGL Workshop at Scatsta Airport. Is it Scaptomyza pallida, or am I wrong as usual?

Thanks Paul, a new one for me  .S.graminum is on my Checklist for Shetland. S.pallida is the only other Scaptomyza mentioned, trust me to pick the wrong one  . A more detailed picture of the head and a good lateral view of the tip of the abdomen could help.

Hi Paul...haven't got a good view of the head...one of these flies that forever seem to be walking away from you. Difficult to get a right shot of abdomen either with wing overhang and drooping stance so the tip is about 0.5mm off the ground. There are loads of them around at the Airport so will try to get better head shot when I go to work?, I mean my place of employment tonight. Best shot attached. (I'm no Klaas I'm afraid). Well that can only mean one thing (well three actually) 1.Drosophilidae as a family like sitting outsite the VCR on the roof in the early morning. 2. It's back out there for me tomorrow morning. 3. I've got a new species, (for me anyhow) it is listed for Shetland.Will this thread ever finish???? Regards Roger..see you tomorrow, same time same place, just like these flies.
