Hello,

now that the season for Rhagio scolopaceus is mainly over, I have several smaller Rhagio from late May and early June to post. I start with this 7-8 mm male from the forest border (northwest Germany). R. lineola?

No.

I'd say Rh. maculatus.

Interesting, thank you Libor and Theo! Unfortunately there is no male maculatus in the gallery, so I had no idea concerning that species.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Theo is very probably right. I was confused by strange light of the picture. Normally, maculatus has bicolored pterostigma: centre yellow and both apexes brown.

Thanks, then I remove the question mark in the subject line.
Best regards,

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
